Meet Wendy.....

The sound of seagulls.

From my home studio in Lulworth Cove village on the Dorset coast, I combine my love of the sea and my passion for glass, making work that captures the essence of the coast, connecting you to the sea through my glass art. I use a variety of glass materials and techniques to experiment with light, layers, energy, and colour. My work reflects the ever-changing energy and seasonal colours of the coast, so you will discover both serene and vibrant work to suit you. I love incorporating screen printed elements in the work, creating small details for you to discover and lose yourself in.

I absolutely love working whilst listening to the sound of seagulls and will often take a pause from the studio to walk Nala, my 3-year-old Cockerdoodlepoo on the beach. This never fails to bring a wash of calm, clarity of thought and uplift my soul and I hope this is reflected in the artwork, evoking a sense of tranquillity and joy for you.

The magical qualities of glass.

I have worked with glass for over 25 years since graduating with a 1st class degree in glass from Edinburgh College of Art, then receiving the prestigious Crafts Council Start Up Award to purchase equipment to set up my studio. Originally, I worked on large-scale glass installations for public buildings and arts projects but my work has changed in scale and style over the years. My draw to nature and passion for the magical qualities of glass has always been at the core of my work. Since moving to my coastal studio 5 years ago my work has been far more sea focused and I love connecting to sea and glass lovers who are drawn to my work.
